The Redlands Arthur Murray Dance Studio opened October 13, 1988. While the studio was new, the managers already had experience running ballroom dance studios for 15 years. The Redlands studio started as a 2,800 sq.ft. commercial space, and has now grown to its own building, with 4,800 sq.ft. total space, a 1,700 sq.ft. dance floor and the ability to split the ballroom into two halves.
Arthur Murray of Redlands has earned its share of accolades, including Top Studio awards for the last 8 years and Outstanding Facility for 2006.
Arthur and Kathryn Murray – Founders
The history of the Arthur Murray Dance Studios began in 1912 with Arthur himself. Arthur invented and pioneered many mainstays of ballroom dancing; using ‘footsteps’ to describe patterns, teaching people through a formal syllabus, and consistently researching the most emergent dances.
With his wife, Kathryn, Arthur created a trusted and recognized name that now spans 250 studios in 19 countries. His belief that dancing can truly change people’s lives continues in those studios, and the one in Redlands is no different.
