The Bachata originated in the country side of the Dominican Republic. The dance is a direct reflection of the music being played in night-clubs during the 1960s. The music of the Bachata is the root of the dance and is often referred to as the “Latin blues”. It usually tells the tale of sadness in love and is the most romantic genre of guitar music in this century. The romantic character of Bachata is achieved through sensual hip and body actions.
